It’s Jared with Ditch Auto and I wanted to talk today about my backpack. My backpack that is my camera bag, my laptop bag. it’s all the things and I’ve been using it non-stop. Now, I ordered this, this is the peak design bag. It’s fantastic. I also have their messenger bag. I feel like for a lot of years I’ve been a messenger bag kind of guy. I’m not really too sure why. I think maybe because maybe it’s a little more professional or something than walking into a meeting with a backpack. But, I just found that I couldn’t quite fit my cameras the way that I configure them and the way that I like to have them set up in those bags without them just being kind of stretched out and everything crunched in there. So, I got this bag out, which I had really only used for a short period of time and started using it again. So, many of you probably seen a review. If you’ve been looking for …

Photographer Reviews Microsoft’s New Surface Pro (2017)

In Product Reviews by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

How well does the New Surface Pro (2017) perform when used to process and edit photos in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop? It definitely is not going to replace my Dell XPS 15, but it’s a pretty cool mobile tool for editing. Check out my overall thoughts. Check out the New Surface Pro here: http://amzn.to/2tqBgY7 Check out the Signature Type Cover here: http://amzn.to/2s6FKjh Check out the Surface Pen here: http://amzn.to/2upek8K Surface Pro Review on State of Tech: Video Transcript: Hey what’s up, it’s Jerad with Ditch Auto, and this is the Microsoft Surface. It is thin and sleek, and light. And pretty cool. So, as a photographer, I’m always looking for the best tools to help me do my work and be the most effective photographer that I can, and also tools that help me be more creative. So, the Microsoft Surface has always appealed to me because of its touch interface, it’s stylus, the fact that it is a laptop, it has full Windows on it so it can run Photoshop and Lightroom, and all that good stuff. So, as a photographer, is this something that I could use? And I wanted to answer that question. I mean, I had purchased the Surface Pro 3 a few years ago, and although it was fantastic, I feel like maybe it was just a little too early for me. I wasn’t ready to make that full commit to windows. I was using Mac at the time, and still really like the Apple’s Macintosh platform, but I’m just …

Week #8 – Our Gear Bag – Photo Challenge

In Photography by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

This week’s challenge is going to be a bit different. The challenge to get out and take photos is still here this week, but for this week’s challenge, I would like you to photograph your gear bag or something that you carry with you often. This is not to see who has the most or the best gear, this is to help start discussions around what gear we use and why we carry it with us. My gear bag can look completely different depending on what I plan to shoot. I have a smaller bag that I use when I just want to have a camera around and I have large bags that I use to travel for commercial photography jobs. Besides photography gear, I also have a few things I carry on myself that I enjoy. I try to stay minimal, but I also like to be functional and be prepared. Check out this week’s video on the topic of Our Gear and Every Day Carry. Upload your Week #8 challenge photos to the new Album in the Ditch Auto Group: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.1442451435778720&type=1 If you post your photos to your social media accounts, use the hashtag #ditchautochallenge Here are a few example photos of Gear and Every Day Carry items I have taken. Please challenge yourself to take new photos this week. I am sure you have some fantastic photos that fit the challenge but the goal of this challenge is to get out and take new photos. Feel free to take all week to work …

Review: Manfrotto MPIXI-B PIXI Mini Tripod

In Product Reviews by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

The Manfrotto Pixi is one of those pieces of camera gear you don’t take serious until you actually try it. I have some real legit tripods from Manfrotto, but I also know that they make some consumer level stuff that I wouldn’t have a use for. The Pixi Mini is a tripod that also acts as a handle for your camera. In a world where selfies and vlogging are a part of daily life, you need a lightweight tripod that can hold up your compact camera.
