It’s Jerad with Ditch Auto, and today, I am back to talk more about the DJI Osmo Pocket. You know, in the last video that I put together, I got a little bit of negative response because I didn’t really enjoyed the device. That’s a personal preference. I know that there are a lot of devices and a lot of options out there for all of us, and so sometimes, one person’s opinion differs with others, but now that there has been not only a firmware update to the Osmo Pocket but also the accessories have been released and I’ve had those for a little while now and been able to play around with them, I wanted to come back and talk more about the device and talk about if it’s an actual game-changer like a lot of people are touting it as, so let’s talk about it. All right, so the Osmo Pocket comes in this little package. You get this nifty little carrying case, which I actually like. The Osmo Pocket itself, I think, is a fantastic little camera. My arguments the first time around was just in comparing it …

3 Months With The Sony a7R III

In Photography by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

The a7R III came as a welcomed upgrade. It had been a few years since the Sony a7R II was launched so I was ready for an upgrade. In this video, I talk about my experiences so far with the Sony a7R III and show you some images I captured with the camera. With the a7III having just came out and the hype behind it, is there value in the Sony a7r III? What do you think? Sony a7rIII: http://jer.fyi/a7rIII Video Transcript: Hey, what’s up? It’s Jerad with Ditch Auto, and I wanted to talk about my first three months with this camera. This is the Sony A7R III and I wanted to talk about my experiences with this camera. Having came from the A9, I was used to some of the features of the A9, which I am glad that they brought to this camera, such as the multi-select, this kind of like joystick, or D-pad, whatever you wanna call it back here that allows you to move the focal point around, I absolutely love that. As you can see I have the battery grip on here, which gives me two batteries, which is just an extremely long amount of time that you can use this camera. Even if you’re shooting 4K video or whatnot you’re going to get amazing battery life out of it if you put the battery grip on it. Plus for me, I have a bigger hand, and the battery grip just gives me a little more to hold onto. I …

Review: Sony Alpha a6500 Mirrorless Digital Camera

In Photography by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

Some will say that the a6500 release was a slap in the face to a6300 owners. I say that it depends on what you use your camera for and that you should expect growing pains when you buy technology that is leading edge. Here is my review of the Sony a6500 Mirrorless Digital Camera. The Sony a6500’s release came well under the normal release cycle for Sony’s a6000 line. The Sony a6000 was on the market for a few years before the a6300 was even hinted of. The a6500 coming out just months shy of a year prior to the release of the a6300 had a lot of photographers frustrated. In my full video review, I discuss the new features and whether or not it is worth upgrading to. One note: I did forget to mention that the a6500 also includes stabilization at the sensor level in addition to the other upgrades I did mention in the video. The Sony a6500 is not meant to replace the a6300, it’s a different camera. Sure if fixes the 4k video overheating issue, but Sony had to release the a6300 with 4k a bit earlier than they should have to compete with the competition. Mind you, even the competitions higher end 4k cameras have overheating issues still to this day. Sony added a touch screen and a slightly beefier body to the tiny camera, welcomed additions if you ask me. I believe that the added features warrant the price increase. Looking at it’s competitors in similar price points, it …

Which DSLR Camera should I buy for Christmas?

In Photography by Jerad Hill1 Comment

I get this question every year. Someone wants to know which camera to buy someone, or him/herself, for Christmas. Every year, I end up giving the same advice. This year I thought it would be a good idea to put it into a post to make it easier to share with others. So who is this guide to buying a DSLR Camera for Christmas for? The people that ask me this question are usually buying their first DSLR camera for someone. The person who will receive this camera usually has not had a DSLR Camera before either. All they know is that they want to make the jump from point-and-shoot, to DSLR. Before diving into which DSLR Cameras I think are best, lets discuss why you would want to go DSLR in the first place. Owning a DSLR Camera to use as your main camera means that you are willing to carry more on you. DSLR Cameras are still larger than their Point-and-shoot counterparts and so are the accessories. DSLR Cameras are not convenient or easy to conceal. They often require their own bag to properly store them. This has been my issue as I have three kids and that makes it hard to carry yet another bag with us when we travel or take trips. I have forever been on the hunt for a camera that produces the same quality of images but is compact enough to put in my pocket. I have yet to find this camera. The first bit of advice I offer …
