Handsfree iPhone Cinematography 4-Axis Slider Setup

In Photography by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

Today’s modern filmmaker needs cameras and tools to help get the shot with minimal assistance. We are making videos about all sorts of topics and want our content to stand out. Many of the filmmaking tools out there can do a lot, but sometimes you have to create your own tools out of what’s available. That is what I did with the ROV Pro Everday Slider and the Movi Cinema Robot. Product Links (Amazon)Movi Cinema Robot: https://jer.fyi/moviROV Pro Everyday Slider: https://jer.fyi/rovproArca Swiss Mini Plate: https://jer.fyi/arcaminiplateArca Swiss Clamp: https://jer.fyi/arcaclamp Hey, what’s up? It’s Jerad with Ditch Auto and this contraption here is a full motion slider that I concocted out of a couple of different things for a mobile phone, like an iPhone or your new Galaxy S10. So what do you do when you want to get those super smooth shots? And yes, I know that your phone cameras have some stabilization built into them and they do a good job, but what about those cool shots that you just couldn’t possibly get unless you had some sort of a system? Maybe you’re by yourself and you want to get some cool B-roll shots like this one. That is right. That shot was done completely hands free. I did not touch anything other than hitting start and letting it go. And I acted in my own scene. And a scene like that can be easily done on an iPhone with a setup like this. So let’s break down what I’ve got going on here. So what …

First Shots with the Sony a6400

The Sony a6400 is here and ready for some testing but first I have some settings I need to change to make the camera more fluid to use. Over the years I have found on just about every camera I use, there are settings I want to customize. That is why there are there, to customize. Each of us has a different workflow when taking photos and like our cameras to respond a certain way. Though each camera brings new features, it is best to find what works well for you and set your camera up accordingly. I produce videos like these to help you learn more about your camera and it’s functionality. Check out the video or read and check out the images I captured below. Now, I got my hands on the Sony A6400 the same time anybody else could that pre-ordered it. I didn’t get a copy from Sony. I didn’t get invited to anything. So I just bought the camera because I liked the specs, and I liked what I saw in some of the other videos that people were putting out. So the A6400, for me, was going to be a nice camera for me to have here in the studio for shooting 4K video. But then also like …

DJI Osmo Pocket, is it a Game Changer?

In Photography, Product Reviews by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

Now that I have the Osmo Pocket accessories I decided to share my revised opinion of the pocket camera gimbal. Is it really a game changer? Let’s take a deeper look. It’s Jerad with Ditch Auto, and today, I am back to talk more about the DJI Osmo Pocket. You know, in the last video that I put together, I got a little bit of negative response because I didn’t really enjoyed the device. That’s a personal preference. I know that there are a lot of devices and a lot of options out there for all of us, and so sometimes, one person’s opinion differs with others, but now that there has been not only a firmware update to the Osmo Pocket but also the accessories have been released and I’ve had those for a little while now and been able to play around with them, I wanted to come back and talk more about the device and talk about if it’s an actual game-changer like a lot of people are touting it as, so let’s talk about it. All right, so the Osmo Pocket comes in this little package. You get this nifty little carrying case, which I actually like. The Osmo Pocket itself, I think, is a fantastic little camera. My arguments the first time around was just in comparing it …

Sony RX100 VI Top 10 Settings to Change

In Photography by Jerad Hill1 Comment

When I get a camera, the first thing I do is change some of the default settings. I want to get the best the camera has to offer when I capture photos and video. Here are my Top 10 settings I changed first on the Sony RX100 MK VI. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VI: http://jer.fyi/rx100vi Sony AGR2 Attachment Grip: http://jer.fyi/rx100grip Sony PCKLM15 LCD Protector: http://jer.fyi/rx100screenprotector Lowepro Newport 30 Camera Case: http://jer.fyi/newport30 SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro SD Card: http://jer.fyi/64gbextremepro Hey, what’s up? It’s Jerad with Ditch Auto. Today I have the Sony RX100 Mark VI, and we’re going to talk about the Top 10 settings that I changed on the camera first. Now I just opened up this camera. Today is the day that everybody started receiving it if they purchased it. Of course, some folks are lucky enough to get things from Sony early for review but I bought it and here it is. As always, I have links down in the description below to the camera, the extra gear, the batteries, the SD card, anything that’s going to make your experience using this camera better. Clicking on those links help support our channel. I typically customized my camera a bit because I use other Sony cameras. I use currently the A7 III and the A7R III, and those cameras have a certain way of working. And I like all my cameras to kind of work the same. There are also shortcuts and things that I have come to just enjoy that actually make the camera a …

3 Months With The Sony a7R III

In Photography by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

The a7R III came as a welcomed upgrade. It had been a few years since the Sony a7R II was launched so I was ready for an upgrade. In this video, I talk about my experiences so far with the Sony a7R III and show you some images I captured with the camera. With the a7III having just came out and the hype behind it, is there value in the Sony a7r III? What do you think? Sony a7rIII: http://jer.fyi/a7rIII Video Transcript: Hey, what’s up? It’s Jerad with Ditch Auto, and I wanted to talk about my first three months with this camera. This is the Sony A7R III and I wanted to talk about my experiences with this camera. Having came from the A9, I was used to some of the features of the A9, which I am glad that they brought to this camera, such as the multi-select, this kind of like joystick, or D-pad, whatever you wanna call it back here that allows you to move the focal point around, I absolutely love that. As you can see I have the battery grip on here, which gives me two batteries, which is just an extremely long amount of time that you can use this camera. Even if you’re shooting 4K video or whatnot you’re going to get amazing battery life out of it if you put the battery grip on it. Plus for me, I have a bigger hand, and the battery grip just gives me a little more to hold onto. I …

Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L Review

In Product Reviews by Jerad HillLeave a Comment

Peak Design has created another fantastic bag with the Everyday Sling 10L bag. This sling bag is versatile and can hold a lot of stuff. In this video, I show you how I use the Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L to carry just what’s needed. Get 10% off your Peak Design purchase by using this link: https://peakdesign.com/?acc=153 Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L on Amazon: http://jer.fyi/everydaysling10l Video Transcript: Hey, what’s up? It’s Jerad with Ditch Auto. Today, we’re going to take a look at the Peak Design’s Everyday Sling. This is the 10L or the 10 liter. I picked this up because I wanted something that was a bit lighter, that was smaller. It was just easy to put on, that I could pull around and grab my camera out of. I think that I’ve been watching a lot of everyday carry type of videos where people have these sling bags that you can grab by the zipper and sling open and pull your weapon out of. I thought wow, that would be cool if I could find a bag that was pretty similar to that. And while the Peak Design’s bag isn’t exactly that, it is pretty similar in the sense to where I could grab it by this strap and pull it around toward me and then open the bag and then have access to all of my stuff. So I was pretty excited to get my hands on one of these. I’ve bought some other Peak Design products, and I’ve reviewed a few of …
